Sketch the spectra of the following molecules, showing the chemical shift, the splitting and the relative intensity of the peaks.

  1. Butane
  2. Methyl propanoic acid
  3. 3-methylbutan-2-amine
  4. Propanone
  5. Isopropylethanoate / methylethylethanoate
  6. But-2-ene-1,4-diol.

Sketch the spectra of the following molecules, showing the chemical shift, the splitting and the relative intensity of the peaks.

  1. Butane

(You might find some sources stating that it is multiplet. Technically that is correct, but we treat it like it is a quartet)
  2. Methyl propanoic acid
  3. 3-methylbutan-2-amine

(the N-H can go anywhere between 1.0 and 4.5 so doesn’t appear here. It has a relative intensity of 2 and may or may not split)
  4. Propanone
  5. Isopropylethanoate / methylethylethanoate
  6. But-2-ene-1,4-diol.
